Terms of use
Last updated: 10 September 2026
These terms govern your use of vidhipandit.com. They are short because the site is simple: it publishes court judgments and material about them. It sells nothing, takes no payment, and has no accounts to sign up for. By using the site you accept these terms; if you do not accept them, please do not use it.
1. Who we are
Vidhipandit is published by Anurag Choubey, a sole proprietor trading as The Knowledge Tree (GSTIN 10AHDPC5941L2ZN), whose principal place of business is B-5, A. G. Colony, Patna, Bihar 800025. The Knowledge Tree is not incorporated, so it has no company registration number. Editorial responsibility, our Grievance Officer's details, and how to complain are set out on the About and Grievance pages.
2. This is not legal advice
This is the term that matters most, so it is second rather than buried at the end.
Nothing on this site is legal advice, and using it creates no advocate-client relationship between you and us or anyone associated with us. We are a publisher, not a law firm, and nobody here is acting as your advocate. A judgment is a decision on particular facts; whether it applies to yours is exactly the question a lawyer is for. If a legal right, a limitation period, a filing, or a liberty is at stake, consult an advocate. Do not act or refrain from acting on the strength of anything you read here.
3. What the site is free to use for
There is no charge, no registration and no account. You may read, search, quote, cite, print and link to anything published here, for study, practice, research, journalism, teaching or curiosity, without asking us.
The judgments themselves are public documents. Reproducing a judgment or order of a court or tribunal is outside copyright infringement under section 52(1)(q)(iv) of the Copyright Act, 1957. We make no proprietary claim over the text of any judgment, and we do not want one.
The underlying corpus is derived from public datasets licensed under CC-BY-4.0, and it contains information from the Indian High Court / Supreme Court Judgments dataset under that licence. If you redistribute material taken from here, that licence's attribution requirement travels with it.
What is ours is the material we actually made: our summaries, explanatory articles, paragraph structuring, the design of the site and its software. Please attribute those to Vidhipandit and link back if you use them. Do not republish them wholesale as though they were your own work.
4. What you must not do with it
- Do not use this site to identify a person the law protects. Disclosing the identity of a victim of an offence under sections 64 to 71 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, of a child covered by section 23 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, or of a child covered by section 74 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, is a criminal offence, and it remains one whether or not you got the name from a published judgment. Our editorial policy explains the checks we run before publishing; those checks protect this site, and they are not a licence for what you go on to do.
- Do not scrape the site into the ground. Automated bulk downloading that degrades the service for other readers is not on. If you want the corpus in bulk for research, ask -- the underlying datasets are public and openly licensed, and we would rather point you at them than have you hammer this server.
- Do not misrepresent what we publish -- do not attribute our summaries to a court, present altered text as a judgment, or use our name or marks in a way that suggests we endorse you.
- Do not attack the service -- no attempt to breach, overload, probe or interfere with the site, its security, or other readers' use of it.
5. Accuracy, and its limits
We take accuracy seriously and we publish a corrections policy that commits us to fixing errors and saying that we did. But this is a large machine-assisted corpus built from source PDFs of variable quality, and we would be lying if we said it will be perfect.
So: the site is provided as it is. We do not warrant that any document is complete, current, correctly transcribed, or the operative version of the judgment, and text extracted from a scanned PDF can be wrong in ways that are not obvious. For anything that matters, verify against the court's own certified or official copy. That is not a disclaimer we are hiding behind -- it is what any careful practitioner does anyway, and we would rather say it than let you assume otherwise.
Some documents are deliberately withheld or de-indexed, for the reasons set out in our editorial policy. Absence from this site therefore means nothing about whether a judgment exists.
6. Links to other sites
Where we link to a court's website, a public dataset or another source, we do not control it and are not responsible for its content or availability.
7. Availability
We give no uptime guarantee. The site may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control, and we may add, change or withdraw features and documents. Nothing here is offered as a service you can build a business process on top of without your own copy of what you need.
8. Liability
We provide this site free of charge and take on no liability for loss arising from your reliance on it, to the extent Indian law allows a publisher to exclude such liability. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited -- including for fraud, and including any liability under consumer protection law that applies despite the service being free.
9. Complaints
If something here is wrong, or should not be here, tell us. The Grievance page names the officer, gives the contact details, and states the timetable: acknowledgement within 24 hours and disposal within 15 days, under Rule 11(2) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. Complaints that a page discloses a protected identity are acted on immediately, ahead of that timetable.
10. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and a material change is described rather than slipped in. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the changed terms; if you do not, stop using it -- there is nothing to cancel and no money involved either way.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at [PENDING-OPERATOR-FACT: city whose courts are to have jurisdiction (normally the publisher's registered office)] are to have jurisdiction, subject to any right you have under law to sue where you live.
